Build Inclusive Learning with AI Human Integration
[Anthony Salcito]
Microsoft Corporation Vice President Education

*Introduction

Over the last year, system leaders, educators, students, and families across the globe have demonstrated incredible energy, commitment, and flexibility as they quickly responded to the need to move to remote learning. During this shift, technology has played a critical role in enabling students to stay connected, engaged, and motivated. Teachers around the world are continuing the learning journey for their classes by integrating video, game-based learning, and powerful collaboration tools into their virtual lessons, and students are experiencing a new type of learning, which will have an important, lasting impact. Institutional leaders have told us that going online was about more than remote instruction – it was about implementing solutions that would keep departments running smoothly and evolve with the changing needs of students and staff. Even with all the incredible fast work, administrators and leaders acknowledge they are navigating unchartered territory, and there is more to be done to ensure all students can participate. As we look to the next school year and beyond, system leaders, educators, faculty, students, and families will apply what they’ve learned throughout the process, and work together to plan and shape the future of education.

*Introduction

The future world predicts that the impact of AI will gradually become greater than it is today. AI technology is advancing rapidly, and so is the digitization of data. By 2035, it is predicted that the impact of AI will be felt in almost all areas of human society. However, despite the remarkable development of AI technology, research on how it will affect our society and humans has not been sufficiently studied. Even AI researchers only predict optimistically or pessimistically through fragmentary prospects for the future AI society, and there is a lack of careful review and discussion. However, this is an urgent issue for future generations who will live under the influence of AI. So they need not only to understand AI technologies, but also how to build social structures so that they can have a positive impact on human life.
From that point of view, digital-related subjects should be included in all school curricula from now on for future generations who will be leaders in society in 2035. First, in elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools, education that includes “digital literacy (including AI literacy) that includes an overall understanding of digital, coding, understanding of data, AI ethics, and the impact of AI on humans and society”, etc. In order for such education to take place, the establishment of infrastructure and securing of teachers must be preceded. In order for coding education to be effective, computers with sufficient capacity must be provided to all students, and all schools must have high-speed communication networks. Looking at the current situation in Korea, the most difficult problem is the shortage of teachers to teach this subject. To compensate for this, it is necessary to temporarily operate the associate teacher system. Out-of-school professionals who do not have teacher qualifications but can teach coding and AI should be qualified after a certain training period and allowed to teach students during regular school hours. In addition, it is also necessary to develop an effective online education system to establish a system where students can receive related education through the online curriculum whenever they want.
In the future, AI education will not only be a very important foundation for national development, but will also become an important ability to live while maintaining dignity as a human being. Not only must be able to understand and handle AI well, but also learn how to gather social capabilities to control the development of AI technology so that AI can advance in a way that contributes to humans and society.

ntroduction
National education system is one of the most important national system, which should be carefully designed and implemented. Education should aim to efficiently deliver wisdom and knowledge that the we gained through trial and error to next generation. Also, education should aim to develop responsible, warm-hearted, and wise generation for the future of the country. In this presentation, we will discuss how AI technology can be adopted to education system to meet these goals. In particular, we will discuss that the introduction of AI technology should not be used as a tool for assessing students' ability or grading them from first to last, but rather head in a direction that can give each student the best learning experience and gain. In addition, we would like to look at how the introduced AI technology can position so that it does not undermine existing human educators’ role or put a strain on their work. By looking at the various existing AI-based education technologies and services, we will explore how AI technologies can be used successfully in education.
